Chris Coady gets BNM’d by Pitchfork. Again.
I know I just did a post about Delorean yesterday, but this morning as Megabite was circling the apartment begging with his eyes to be taken out to pee, I was reading Pitchfork and lo and behold there was another Best New Music for one of our guys. In January it was the album “Teen Dream” by Beach House, now it’s the track “Stay Close” Chris mixed from the upcoming Delorean album. Click here to listen. – Dan

Chris Coady mixed Delorean album to see US release on True Panther
Awesome! I saw Delorean at the Insound party at SXSW and they were fantastic. So good in fact I’m going to see them again Saturday at Webster Hall in NYC. I think the only other artist I’ve seen twice in one week by choice is Morrissey. If you know me you know how much that means. Click thru to the Pitchfork article to hear one of the songs Chris Coady mixed the shit out of.

Geoff Sanoff mixes Nada Surf live tracks
So I Googled “Nada Surf Live in Japan” and pictures from them live at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City came up. Someone’s algorithm needs tweaking…
Anyway, Geoff just mixed a bunch of live Nada Surf tracks that will show up as bonus tracks on the Japanese version of their upcoming album “If I Had a Hi-Fi”. Cool. Check out that Bowery Ballroom picture for no real reason here:

CokeMachineGlow.com interview with Beach House about making “Teen Dream” with Chris Coady
Very nice interview over at cokemachineglow.com about making the album with Chris. Read the whole thing here, or just read this snip:
CMG: Chris Coady gets a producer’s credit on this album. Was this the first time that you worked with an outside producer?
AS: Well, he did essentially what Rob Girardi did on the first two records. He just helped us; he’s an engineer and he helped us record and kind of helped us focus the takes and chose which mikes to use. In Chris’s case, he has a ton of experience, and I can see some of the decisions he made that really helped things come across. There were a lot of times when we would do a take, and we had been playing the songs for months and months and months constantly, rehearsing, getting ready to record, and we’d do a take, and we’d be like, “Oh, great! Perfect, no mistakes, great sound,” and he’d be like “I don’t know if the vibe is totally right yet.” He was really good at monitoring that, since we were never used to having the ability to work into the energy of a song, to have the time to do fifteen takes of the guitar. In some cases that first take has all the energy, but in some cases there’s this thing where you work into the song and some other things start happening and you get to another place and the fourteenth take is magical. We’re really lucky to have had the luxury to do that on this album.
