Our James Brown spent 17 days in January at Sound City in Van Nuys, California recording the new Arctic Monkeys album with producer James Ford. It was essentially recorded live to 24 track analog (excluding the odd fix and overdub) and mixed by Craig Silvey at Sunset Sound in Hollywood. James says “it were a reet laff” (translation = it was a lot of fun). We can’t wait to hear the results. Here is a nice shot of James and Alex Turner:

Foo Fighters documentary to debut at SXSW
Our James Brown shared the control room with a documentary film crew last year as he engineered the upcoming Foo Fighters album. That footage will be included in a career-spanning documentary what will be shown for the first time (we think) in Austin at SXSW. Don’t miss it, as there is sure to be wonderful footage of James sitting in a chair looking at a tape machine remote. Details from SPIN:

Chris Coady just spent 4 weeks recording Santigold
Chris Coady just spent the better part of the past four weeks recording Santigold at Downtown Studios here in NYC. Chris says that the album is amazing. That’s literally all I know about the sessions. I’d love if she did a Morrissey cover – given the photo below I’m assuming she is a fan.

Eric Broucek just finished producing & mixing the new Rubblebucket LP…
… and it’s really good. I’ve only had a chance to listen to it once but am surprised at the number of songs that got stuck in my head after one listen. If you are not in New York City, check out their MySpace page here – you might be able to see them live with Los Amigos Invisibles or Toubab Krewe. Here is a photo of the band + Eric at Stickydisc in Greenpoint, Brooklyn:
