New Cassettes “Winterhead” LP gets release date, co-mixed by Geoff Sanoff
Last year Geoff Sanoff and Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne co-mixed “Winterhead” by New Cassettes. It’s now got a release date and the band will be touring the US with We Were Promised Jetpacks. I’m going to make sure to catch them at SXSW next month. Can you believe it’s almost SXSW time again??? Geoff Sanoff’s work on The Sheepdogs recognized with 3 Juno nominations!
Geoff Sanoff engineered and co-mixed an album with Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, “That Thing You Do”) last year for Canada’s The Sheepdogs. You may remember them being the band that won the unsigned band contest and appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone (and Project Runway, yes, I watch Project Runway). The album was just nominated for 3 Juno awards! Cross your fingers for the win, eh? Also, WTF – William Shatner is hosting the ceremony? Is that cool?

Chris Coady is producing the new Rey Pila LP for Arts + Crafts Mexico/Seitrack
Chris Coady is in Plantain studio (formerly the DFA studio) this month producing the new album for Rey Pila. I stopped by the studio yesterday hoping to hear the band play, but sadly they had just run out to pick up a hard drive. Bummer, because I had never heard of these guys before, but what I’ve heard just recently is really, really, really good. Someone smart is going to sign these guys in the US soon. Mark my words – February 16, 2012, I said these guys are going to be pretty, pretty big. Check out a Rey Pila song from their last album here, and a photo of Chris at Plantain yesterday below.
