Kevin McMahon
Kevin McMahon is, unique among producers, a familiar face to many musicians who frequented the last generation of great live venues in New York – particularly Brownies where he worked to become head soundman. That was where he honed his skills at facilitating and capturing a great live performance with almost nothing but the love of music, and that’s what distinguishes his approach to the studio process. His first large studio venture, Marcata Recording, was in conjunction with the Walkmen which they started in Harlem. The whole catastrophe of cables and vibe was moved up state in 2006 where Kevin’s old school techniques, toys and gear have been housed in an old barn full of huge reverberant spaces. There he mixes his working knowledge of getting great performances, and technology to capture, and produce magical moments in the lives of emerging artists,and to help nurture their success…
