‘Kevin McMahon’ News

2k10 was Awesome! (a list of every band we worked with in 2010)

I realize it’s only November 30th, but if Black Friday can now start the Monday before Thanksgiving, then I can do our year end list on the last day of November.  This year has been pretty amazing and all of our guys have worked on outstanding records.  Time to stand back and admire what our guys have accomplished.

New Swans album mixed by Kevin McMahon is out today!

It’s called “My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky” and our own Kevin McMahon mixed it at Marcata Recording in beautiful upstate New York.  It’s in stores now and got a nice review from Pitchfork today.

Michael Gira (Swans/Young God Records) himself says:

“Kevin is relentless in his search for both clarity and high fidelity – but perhaps most importantly, his focus is ultimately on the sonic thread that holds everything together, providing the architecture that enables the music to reach its’ maximum potential. I heartily recommend him – 1000 %”

Kevin McMahon produced Linfinity album gets a 7.1 from Pitchfork

I generally focus on the number Pitchfork gives an album, because the actual writing is pretty hit-or-miss with me.  We’ve all seen the reviews that don’t actually talk about the music on the album until the last half of the last paragraph.  In this case however, both the rating and the review seem to be spot on.  Click here to check it out.

Kevin McMahon is recording the new Chrome Cranks album

Chrome Cranks are back together and kicking ass like they never went away. The band just wrapped up 12 songs in 3 days with Kevin McMahon at the helm.  Click here to read a pretty in-depth (by Brooklyn Vegan standards) interview and review of their two NYC shows this past weekend.

Kevin McMahon is mixing the first Swans album in 14 years

Kevin is currently at upstate at Marcata Recording mixing the first Swans album since 1996.  NYC legend Michael Gira has returned with Swans material that Kevin calls “a complete return to form in a dynamically crushingly awesome way”.

Kevin McMahon + Titus Andronicus = another Pitchfork Best New Music

Our own Kevin McMahon produced and mixed the new Titus Andronicus album for XL, and just like the last Titus Andronicus album Kevin produced, Pitchfork gave it a “Best New Music” seal of approval.  That’s like going 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and a whole bunch of RBI’s.  Check out the review here.

Also, the band just announced a ton of new tour dates, including a stop at Brooklyn’s Glasslands Gallery on June 3rd. See full tour dates here.
