Chris Coady spent a few weeks last month producing the new album for the Delta Spirit at Dreamland in upstate New York. After a short break for the band to play a few shows, they will be reconvening here in New York City to wrap things up. Here is an Instagram photo taken by the band of Chris at the board:

Chris Coady mixed Hooray for Earth album out Tuesday
I haven’t heard it yet (ahem… Chris… Polsia…:) but apparently Pitchfork has, and they actually reviewed it 5 days before its release date. They don’t do that very often. It’s a really good review, and anything that is described as sounding like Depeche Mode will probably be right up my alley. Can’t wait to get it! Read the review here.

Listen to new Chris Coady recorded Gang Gang Dance LP
If my iCal is to be believed, Chris Coady recorded the new Gang Gang Dance LP “Eye Contact” between May 7th and June 3rd, 2010. The first three weeks were at Dreamland studios upstate and the last week was at DNA here in New York. Almost a year later, we can all now listen to the album. Chris Coady & James Brown in the new issue of SPIN!
Interesting half-page story in the latest issue of SPIN discussing indie bands stepping up and recording with professional producers. The story mentions Beach House working with our Chris Coady, but the focus of the story is The Pains of Being Pure at Heart working with Flood, Alan Moulder and (strangely unmentioned) James Brown. They manage to misidentify James as Flood in the photo caption and misspell the name of the Pains bass player – it’s Alex “Naidus”, not “Naigus”. Click on the photo below to enlarge and read the full story.
In other news, SPIN has an opening for a fact checker…

Pitchfork gives Chris Coady & Gang Gang Dance a “Best New Music”
Chris Coady spent last May in upstate New York engineering the new Gang Gang Dance album. I hadn’t heard any of the music and had actually forgotten about it altogether until Pitchfork gave the track “Glass Jar” a Best New Music yesterday. Please head over here to listen to a stream of the song – it’s quite beautiful and is doing wonders for my hangover.
