Kyle “Slick” Johnson tracked new North Highlands LP

Kyle “Slick” Johnson and Brooklyn band North Highlands spent 3 days last weekend tracking their upcoming LP at Carriage House Studios in Connecticut. You may remember the band from a nice Pitchfork mention last year – check it out here. I guarantee you will be hearing more about this band very soon… Here is a nice photo of Kyle (in the hat) and the band:

Creepoid discusses working with Kyle “Slick” Johnson

Late last year our Kyle “Slick” Johnson produced and mixed Philadelphia up-and-comers Creepoid.  The resulting album is called “Horse Heaven” and it’s getting all kinds of buzz around Philly and beyond.  The band recently sat down with The Deli and discussed making the album with Kyle.  Check out the interview here.

BrooklynVegan gives Young Buffalo some love!

Our Kyle “Slick” Johnson produced and mixed the debut album by Young Buffalo this summer.  It’s set for an early 2011 release on Fat Possum Records (home of Wavves, The Walkmen, Band of Horses) and we are SUPER excited about it.  I’ve been listening to the demos and album for months now and am glad that people who are just now hearing it for the first time are as excited as I am.  Click here to listen to a song from the upcoming album and to watch a video.

Kyle “Slick” Johnson recorded and mixed Wavves album gets an 8.4 & Best New Music from Pitchfork.

Kyle “Slick” Johnson recorded and mixed the album with Dennis Herring and it’s no surprise that Pitchfork loves it.  It’s a pretty great record, altho I’m pretty sure Debbi is sick of me playing “King of the Beach” over and over and over….
